Concours Scolaire (School Contest)

For the 47th consecutive year, Alliance Française of Silicon Valley is proud to organize its French language contest for high school students.

The competition is open to graduating seniors from any high school (public or private), within the Santa Clara, San Mateo or Santa Cruz Counties. Out of fairness, we request that students from French speaking families not participate. The purpose of our contest is to reward students who have achieved excellence in French through their own efforts rather than thanks to circumstances in their personal lives. That is why we are counting on you to send us not necessarily your most brilliant students, but your most deserving ones.

The contest will be held on Saturday morning, 22 April 2017 from 10 AM to 12 PM at AFSCV Campbell center, (591 W. Hamilton Ave., Campbell). The candidates will work on an essay and conversation. Please bring paper and pencil. The oral portion will be conducted in the form of a short interview. Our judges will be selected French professors from local colleges, universities and Alliance Française. We would also like to limit the test to five students per teacher.

The prizes are as follows:

  • 1st : $600,
  • 2nd : $400,
  • 3rd : $200,
  • 4th & 5th  : $100

To thank them for their participation, all students will receive a one-year membership to the Alliance Française of Silicon Valley.
