Who are we?

Alliance Française Silicon Valley (AFSCV) is a non-profit organization and the official center of French Language and Culture in Silicon Valley. Its mission is to promote and enhance the knowledge and appreciation of French and francophone cultures and language, and to encourage interaction among French, Francophone, and American people through programs in education and the arts.

Since 1970, AFSCV has offered French language classes for all ages and levels as well as cultural events, libraries, two book clubs and celebrations of French holidays. We have three centers, located in Los Gatos, Menlo Park, and Santa Cruz, to better serve Silicon Valley including the Santa Clara, San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties. Our main office, foyer, and library are located at the Los Gatos center.



Origins

Serving Silicon Valley since 1970.
Alliance Française Silicon Valley was created in 1970 in Saratoga by Mrs. Noble Tucker, under the name “Alliance Française of Saratoga.” It later became the “Alliance Française of Santa Clara Valley.” In 2013, our name changed to “Alliance Française Silicon Valley” so that we could be found more easily. In 2020, we celebrated our 50th Anniversary and plan on providing you a professional and customized service for many more years!

The Alliance Française Silicon Valley will ensure continued relevance in the changing world and will grow in terms of students, members and variety of activities.

Vision

The Alliance Française Silicon Valley will be seen by people in as the premier institution for all things related to French language and culture. 

It will achieve this vision through:

  • Reaching a broad base of people throughout , including beginner students of all ages and expatriate French nationals. It will continue to understand their interests and needs and then meet them through a wide range of affordable activities and services, accessible in a variety of locations.
  • Offering a high standard of teaching facilities and advanced teaching methods using current technologies and multi-media tools.
  • Working in collaboration with other French organisations and with other cultural institutions as appropriate
  • Providing a working environment, which attracts the highest quality management, teachers and staff who are intimately connected with French language and culture.

Board of Directors 2021

The Alliance Française Silicon Valley is registered as a nonprofit organization in California. It is administered by a Board of Directors. These local francophiles come from varied backgrounds and actively work for the core activities of the Alliance Française and for the promotion of French language and culture.
