"product_title": "A Literary afternoon with two French Women Authors",
"product_content": "The Alliance Française Silicon Valley is delighted to host an inspiring literary afternoon with two French authors who will share their stories, journeys, and voices with our community. Corinne Cotereau and Vanina Joulin-Batejat, both former lawyers in San Diego, will discuss their shift from law to writing. During the event, the discussion will delve into the themes and inspirations behind their novels, tracing how each author's personal journey has fueled their passion for storytelling. Attendees will discover the intricate ways the French language shapes their literary voices and creative expression, offering a glimpse into the profound connection both writers maintain with their linguistic heritage. After the discussion, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a book signing and meet the authors in person, making for a memorable and engaging afternoon. More about the authors and their books: Corinne Cotereau, a lawyer by training, has changed her career direction multiple times. In February 2020, she settled in as a painter in San Diego, California. During the height of COVID, on a day of despair, providence (and Google Maps) guided her to abandoned railroad tracks. The longest railway bridge in the world awaited her in a photo, yearning to be revitalized. Her imagination did the rest. Providence Canyon, Albin Michel, is her first novel. Purchase her book on [Lireka](https:\/\/tidd.ly\/3JGAG1E). Vanina Joulin-Batejat, a Franco-American since 2013, is both bilingual and bicultural. She has resided in the United States and Canada for more than 20 years. As a lawyer, international legal expert, entrepreneur, and consultant specializing in U.S. business establishment, she has navigated a diverse career path that has finally led her to her true passion: writing. "product_title": "En Sourdine de Faustine Betouin",
"product_content": "Join us for a lively discussion dedicated to contemporary literature, where words come alive and stories unfold alongside the remarkable Faustine Betouin. This special event features an engaging roundtable about the themes of female solidarity, resilience, and the challenges faced by women in today's world—all inspired by Faustine’s debut novel, En sourdine. Expect dynamic conversation, audience Q&A, and the chance to connect over fresh perspectives and shared stories. Discover what happens when literature becomes a bridge between experience and imagination!Faustine Bétouin, lawyer based in San Francisco since 2018, decided to embark on the writing journey and go back to her roots of a family of booksellers. En sourdine, her first novel - she rather describes as modern tale - is particularly relevant in the light of today's world, telling the stories of courageous, endearing women and addressing the powerful themes of sorority, domestic violence and social anxiety Back cover:'An elegant mother goes out to pick flowers, hoping to veil the cracks in her home with beauty. On the stairs, she crosses paths with \"the young old woman,\" as her twins call her—a strange girl, wrapped in her coat to avoid greeting her neighbors. She narrowly misses the blonde whirlwind in a leather jacket, eyes flashing with intensity, closely followed by the son of the pretentious bourgeois from the fourth floor. She’s finishing up a final meeting before heading to the exhibition opening, where she will shine with eloquence in her couture dress. These four women, so different from one another, are unaware that their futures are intertwined. It’s when their lives take a dramatic turn that their paths will cross... and it will be the best thing that could ever happen to them.Between tension and lightness, En sourdine is a tale of women, an ode to friendship where struggles bring them together and hardships prove to be unexpectedly redemptive.'

"product_content": "Time to Hydrate! A new approach to wellness through water (In French)We are thrilled to invite you to a unique event featuring Dr. Sibyl Baladi, Ph.D., a biochemist and expert in hydration for health and wellness.Hydration is crucial for health. Yet, a large majority of people are chronically under-hydrated.To optimize body hydration, Dr. Baladi has developed, thanks to her professional expertise and knowledge gained through her personal journey, a natural and easy-to-follow water-based health method, so as to improve health and wellness. This innovative yet simple hydration routine is based on the timing of water intake not on the total daily volume of ingested water. This hydration method is for everyone, and particularly for the elderly and for people suffering from an ailment that they wish to cure, and who also fear going to the bathroom too often during the day or even at night.Time to Hydrate! details the concepts of the original water-based health method, unveils several diseases generated by the lack of water in the body, mentions the medical and financial benefits of this new hydration solution and presents the advantages and disadvantages of some drinking water. During the session, Dr. Baladi will discuss her book, Time to Hydrate!, which explores how hydration can prevent diseases, improve health, and offer long-term wellness benefits. Don't miss this inspiring morning as we dive into a fascinating conversation about hydration, wellness, and the science behind it. Whether you're passionate about health or curious to learn more about this transformative approach. Sibyl BALADI, Ph.D. earned her doctorate degree from the Faculty of Science of the University of Geneva, Switzerland and completed her postdoctoral studies at the University of Berkeley in California. Biochemist by training and expert in protein chemistry, her research focused on the study of key proteins in analytical laboratories of American, French and Swiss universities (e.g., Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; Cochin Hospital - Port Royal, Paris; Geneva University Hospitals, Switzerland), and in top-tier pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies (e.g., Bayer, Bio-Rad, Novo Nordisk). Dr. Baladi is the author of numerous publications, analytical methods and patents.

To do so, we will take you on a journey across the four seasons with art, scents and poetry. You will learn about scent ingredients (natural essences, absolutes, synthetic molecule): how they are extracted, how to smell them and how to memorize them. Then, you will learn about the messages that they convey. Scents, emotions, colors, sounds interact with each other within each season to create a language that speaks directly to our heart. We named it: the Sulékó language of the Seasons. Together, we will focus on 12 scent ingredients, key letters of the alphabet of scents, which we will study. We will then explore perfume creation. From scent ingredients selection to maturation and maceration of the concentrate, you will learn the various tools, processes, centuries old traditions and know-how that we have adopted to create our perfumes. Using this language of scents, we designed four perfumes which we will discover; each one reveals the inner self of a person at a certain point of his\/her life. This initiation to the world of perfume will help you refine your sense of smell and teach you how to choose a perfume that truly matches your per- sonality and your state of mind, a perfume that narrates your story. You will also discover the riches of French artistic craftsmanship and the exceptional know-how of the artists Sulékó has collaborated with to create its Sculpture-Bottles. Using various porcelain techniques, they translated each perfume into shapes, colors and textures.",

Jamais enseignée, cachée, plongée entre la gêne, les tabous et au contraire sa « libéralisation récente », c’est une plongée fascinante au cœur de la pensée comportementale humaine à travers le temps que je vous propose de découvrir. With stellar performances and lavish cinematography, the film stars Romain Duris as Molière, an actor and playwright up to his ears in debt. Disguised as a priest, Molière becomes a guest in Jourdain's palace on the pretext of teaching Jourdain the craft of the stage, which annoys his wife, Elmire. But, soon after, the confrontation between Elmire and Molière turns seductive. Her advice about inventing a new kind of comedy - comedy that makes one weep - sets Molière’s life on a course that made him a major name in history. The story is mostly fictional and many scenes follow actual scenes and text in Molière's plays including Tartuffe, Le Misanthrope, Le malade imaginaire and Le Bourgeois gentilhomme, whose principal character is also named Jourdain. It is implied that these \"actual\" events in his life inspired the plays of his maturity. This story will be celebrated by literature and cinema, especially in the movie “Is Paris burning” by René Clément (1966). Why did Von Choltitz fail to carry out Hitler’s orders? Why was he perceived as the savior of the capital when he had ordered the mining of the bridges and monuments of Paris?
